Origin Story
On September 8, 2011, artist Nate Hallinan posted three progress images on Twitter for a new piece called "Smurf Sighting." On September 9, 2014, Hallinan posted the finished artwork on his website. The image depicts a realistic 3D version of a Smurf carrying a snail on a stick, as if returning from a hunt. Years later, on August 26, 2023, TikTok user ghojam1 posted a slideshow of eight photographs set to Dr. Dre's song "Keep Their Heads Ringin'." The photos were cropped versions of Nate Hallin
